I've began to read War Horse by Michael Morpurgo, and I've heard that the film is really sad, and it's set in World War One.England, 1914. As World War 1 begins, Joey, young Albert’s beloved horse, is sold to the Cavalry and shipped to France. He’s soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes Joey on an extraordinary odyssey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone in No Man’s Land. But Albert cannot forget Joey and, still not old enough to enlist, he embarks on a treacherous mission to find Joey and bring him home. Filled with stirring music and some of the most innovative stagecraft of our time, War Horseis a remarkable tale of courage, loyalty and friendship, and an unforgettable theatrical experience. At the heart of the show are life-sized puppets which bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to thrilling life on stage.I've seen a few of the sequels like Private Peaceful
